BOOK TAG :-)

<-- bloggers choice...

I got my first blogtag! how fun this blogging thing is! thanks Kipepeo...
Anyway..so its a book tag...anyone who knows me, knows that its take me like a year(literally) to read books some times...And I could be reading about four at a time..all started at various points in the year. And it can get hectic, but I think the good ones get through and I do fortunately have enough to fill out this thing..so here gos:

-# of books that you own?
dunno...I sometimes just go through phases of buying them just cus I like the cover..etc..So i have quite a few,but not those many read unfortunately...because marketing being as it is these days- you really should NOT judge a book by its cover...

Last book you bought?
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince- yeh Im one of those...I literally have no groceries but I do have the book!

-Five books that mean a lot to you?
The Catcher in the Rye - J.D. Salinger: I would put it as my favourite book..Ive not read it again recently, but it just made such an impact on me when I first read it...its excellent..

Sleepers -Lorenzo Carcaterra: This was just an amazing story..even though the movie was good..it literally was not even close to as brilliant as the book.. I laughed, cried, got annoyed...

Brave New World- Aldous Huxley: so interesting...for how long ago it was written its incredibly on point! Very influential to my political and social viewpoints..

The Celestine Prophecy - James Redfield- yeh hahah....i know its one of those self-help books and yeh seems stupid..But seriously I tell you- it changed the way I think- I am who I am because of it- not following it in a cult-like way..But it just says so much that is applicable to life...worth the 'pinch of salt' read

Matilda- Roald Dahl : This is just my favourite one- makes me smile on any bad day , but The Witches , Charlie and the Choco Factory, BFG..etc all excellent...This man was the master kids writer- wacha Rowlings, though I guess she deserves a mention- this man spun a web of delight with every real or invented word. His short stories were probably even better Kiss Kiss, Someone Like You...all great stuff!

ok..6 books...

Codi ya Ndavinchi- Dan Brown: its too hype not to be added...I nearly failed a course because I was reading it instead of the necessary...whether its true or not..I think Mummy would sayof it -njus supa!

and a special mention..its not really a book:
Kwani? collection 1 the blue one....havent read the second: just some excellent stuff in there...I have serious regrets about not having read enough Kenyan literature..I NEED to get on that...

theres more books..but I guess I may as well stick to the regulations cus it may get too much..yani with giving shout outs to various Nancy Drews -i.e The Secret of Shadow Ranch...such things..

Last book(s) you've read?
the last book I actually finished - The Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul- Douglas Adams: very interesting and laugh out loud funny...but ended in a hmm?way..I guess that was a twist...:S
But right now Im finally reading The Alchemist-Paulo Coelho: shoutout to the supplier Poetycally...u guy why didnt u strap me down and make me read this before..its riveting!

Pick 5 Bloggers
the above mentioned Poetycally, and Pandemonium- both intelligent ladies with some good opinions...
And because Im new to this and dont actually know anyone else really..Ill pick people whove came along and spent enough time here to comment on my two cents - MsaniiXL..Akiey..and Kinyi...if youve done the tag already..ah well....Enjoy otherwise...
